Long-Term Fertilizer Reduction in Greenhouse Tomato-Cucumber Rotation System to Assess N Utilization, Leaching, and Cost Efficiency

Technology-oriented approaches to reduce chemical fertilization in agroecosystems without influencing the vegetable yield is a proficient method for sustainable agriculture and environmental safety. However, short-term studies are not capable indicate effects of various inputs long run; therefore, six-year experiment was conducted Ningxia, China. The experimental units were: no fertilizer control (CK: 0 kg N ha−1), chicken manure (M: organic 362 reduced (RCF: 992 ha−1 + conventional (CF: 1515 ha−1). study aimed assess on yield, nitrogen (N) use efficiency (NUE), leaching, economic benefits. results achieved herein that RCF has significantly improved NUE, leaching (23.7%), benefit (NEB, 41.8%) as compared CF. Based net benefit, NUE conditions, optimum application range 634–821 tomato 556–778 cucumber. concluded an important factor pollution improve efficiency. Further experiments suggested examine rate provision from its ratio with fertilization.
